“The Creator ‘made them male and female’ and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’. So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, no human being must separate.” – Matthew 19:4-6 –
Catholics wishing to enter into the Sacrament of Matrimony should download our Preparing for Matrimony Guidelines booklet which gives all the specific details regarding the celebration of the sacrament at Saint John the Baptist. Please contact the parish office for an appointment with one of the priests at least six months in advance of the proposed wedding date. You should not book a reception hall before confirming the date with a priest.

A Godly Plan for Love and Holy Matrimony (class)
A short preparation course must be fulfilled prior to your wedding. We recommend completing this requirement well in advance of your wedding date. You may see when classes are available and register at the coordinators’ website here: A Godly Plan for Love & Holy Matrimony. Engaged couples will meet for four classes on Thursday evenings. Each class is approximately 2 hours. Couples may choose any of the series offered, as long as all four classes in the series are completed before their wedding date. Couples are encouraged to complete their series well ahead of the wedding date. Please register no later than one week in advance of first class.
Women’s Health and Family Planning (class)
A free introductory session of the Creighton Model of Fertility Care (Natural Family Planning) is offered for:
- Women who want to understand their health, menstrual and fertility cycles. A few minutes of regular observation of certain “biomarkers” in the body will provide a woman great insight into the functioning of her body.
- Couples who need to manage the size of their family in a way compatible with Church teaching. The Creighton Model of Fertility Care can be used to both achieve and avoid pregnancy in a way that is not linked to cancer, stroke or other side effects like contraceptive pills are.
Sessions can take place according to your schedule. There is a fee charged for subsequent sessions if you decide to continue them. No pressure. The fee is negotiable for families who are struggling financially. Register for your free introductory session (or get more information) by looking here or calling the Rectory Office at (714) 540-2214.
